Science Based Targets Initiative
The independent Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) has verified our emission reduction targets as consistent with levels required to meet the United Nations’ Paris Agreement on climate change (limiting global warming to 1.5 ° C). Therefore, we commit to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, and to measure and reduce our scope 3 emissions.
MATSEN CHEMIE AG has been an active member of the “UmweltPartnerschaft Hamburg” since 2019. The aim of the initiative is to promote voluntary environmental protection in Hamburg. Our voluntary environmental and climate protection services that are currently recognized by the initiative are as follows:
- ISO 14001 certification
- Paperless office
- Employees receive 100% reimbursement for the cost of public transportation between their home and the work
- Purchase of electric scooters as company vehicles
The UmweltPartnerschaft is carried out by the Senate of Hamburg (represented by the Authority for Environment & Energy) and Hamburg’s economy (represented by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, among others).
Alliance for Development and Climate
Since February 2019, MATSEN CHEMIE AG has been a supporter of the "Alliance for Development and Climate". This alliance aims to combine the two major challenges of the future, climate protection and sustainable development.
Alliance members strive to become carbon neutral by avoiding and further reducing greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible. In addition, members invest in certified climate protection projects in developing and emerging countries in order to compensate for their remaining greenhouse gas emissions.
