Castor oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the Ricinus communis tree, which is mainly native to India. Castor oil has a thick consistency and a light yellow colour. Due to its high viscosity and resistance to high temperatures, castor oil is used as a lubricant for machinery.
In the plastics industry, castor oil is used to produce bio-based plastics as it is a sustainable alternative to petrochemical products.
In the paint and coatings industry, castor oil is used as a binder for dyes as it has high viscosity and adhesion.
