Benzotriazole

Benzotriazole is traditionally produced from o-phenylenediamine and sodium nitrite in an aqueous solution under acidic conditions. The process essentially involves diazotisation and subsequent ring formation.

Applications known to us are:

Corrosion protection:
Protection of copper, copper alloys, silver and other metals through the formation of stable protective layers. Used in cooling and heating systems as well as in industrial water circuits, among other things.

Lubricant additive:
Additive in oils and greases to prevent metal oxidation and wear, especially in copper components.

Plastics and polymer technology:
Component of stabilisers that prevent material degradation by metals.

Metalworking and electroplating:
Use in pickling and cleaning baths to prevent tarnishing and staining.

Cleaning and rinsing agents:
Protection of metallic components in cleaning and rinsing processes.
