Potassium water glass
Potassium water glass, also known as potassium silicate, is an aqueous solution of potassium silicates (salts of silicic acid). It is widely used in the construction and building materials industry, including as a binding agent in mineral paints and plasters, for impregnating masonry, in the manufacture of fireproof coatings and as a binding agent in the abrasives and ceramics industry. Potassium water glass is also used as an adhesive in the paper and cardboard industry and in corrosion protection.
Due to its high resistance, mineral reaction behaviour and good chemical compatibility, potassium water glass is preferred in sensitive areas of application such as monument preservation, the manufacture of mineral paints and corrosion protection.
