Known applications are:
Cosmetics industry:
Ricinoleic acid is an important ingredient in skin care products such as moisturisers, lip balms and hair care products.
Oleochemistry:
Ricinoleic acid is used in oleochemistry as a starting material for the production of surfactants and emulsifiers. These substances are widely used in detergents, soaps, shampoos, cosmetics and industrial cleaners. Surfactants based on ricinoleic acid are particularly known for their skin compatibility and their ability to form emulsions.
