Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Hydrogenated castor oil (HCO) is a solid, waxy material produced by the hydrogenation of castor oil. Due to its special properties such as water resistance and stability, it is used in many areas.
Known applications are:
Paints and coatings:
In paint and colour production, HCO is used to make surfaces water-repellent and resistant to external influences. It also improves the hardness and durability of coatings.
Lubricants:
HCO is used in biodegradable lubricants that are required in demanding environments such as humid or extreme conditions.
Cosmetics and skin care:
HCO is often used in products such as lip balms, creams and lipsticks to improve consistency and moisturise.
Pharmaceutical products:
In medicines, HCO is used as a binder or coating to control the release of active ingredients. It is also used in ointments and suppositories as it is stable and water-repellent.
Candle production:
In the production of candles, HCO ensures that the wax becomes harder and the candles burn longer.
Plastics and polymers:
HCO is used as an additive in plastics and improves their flexibility and strength. It is also used in the production of nylon 11.
Paper and packaging industry:
HCO is used in paper production to improve the water resistance of products, as well as in the packaging industry to create moisture-resistant coatings.

CO2 neutral available:
For this purpose, we first developed a product carbon footprint (PCF), which details the emissions on a "cradle to gate" basis. In addition, we reduce emissions to a minimum through efficient logistics and intelligent warehouse locations in Europe. We then compensate for the remaining unavoidable emissions through Gold Standard CO2 certificates.
