Tolyltriazole
Tolyltriazole, a methyl-substituted derivative of benzotriazole, is primarily used for its excellent protective effect on metals.
Applications known to us are:
Corrosion protection:
Tolyltriazole forms stable protective layers on copper, its alloys, silver and, to some extent, aluminium. It is used in cooling and heating circuits, air conditioning systems and industrial water systems to reliably protect metal surfaces from corrosion.
Lubricating and hydraulic oils:
In engine, gear and hydraulic oils, tolyltriazole acts as an additive that inhibits corrosion and extends the service life of the products.
Metalworking:
In pickling, cleaning and polishing solutions, it prevents tarnishing and discolouration of copper, brass and bronze.
Plastics and polymers:
Tolyltriazole is added to stabilisers to prevent harmful interactions between metals and polymers, e.g. in cable insulation.
Cleaning and rinsing agents:
In technical cleaners and dishwashing detergents, it protects sensitive metal parts from corrosion damage.
Electronics manufacturing:
Used in fluxes and cleaning chemicals to protect printed circuit boards and copper wiring.
Chemical industry:
Also serves as a building block in the synthesis of speciality chemicals, dyes and fine chemicals.
